about

In musical notation, a bar (or measure) is a segment of time defined by a given number of beats of a given duration. In Hip Hop it refers to each line written by the emcee...if an emcee has "bars" then they've got lines for days...If an emcee has B.A.R.S. (Brilliant Art Requires Swagg)--not only do they have strong poetic lines, but they also have "swagg"--style, charisma and attitude.

These tracks are featured on Urban Art Partnership's Master Poets' album "Got B.A.R.S?" It was created during UAP's 2011 Summer Intensive Workshop Series, which was produced in conjunction with The Hip Hop Re:Education Project (www.reeducate.org), who besides facilitating the production process, also organized a series of writing, recording and performance Master Classes with Pharoahe Monch, Eagle Nebula and Homeboy Sandman.
